Senior Center gets cell phone tips from students

The St. James Senior Center in conjunction with the St. James Middle School Citizenship Class Educator Vince Perona’s students presented personalized instruction for cell phone usage. 

Council approves resolution to support school grant

            The city of St. James is supporting the school district as it seeks a Transportation Alternative Grant, which could fund a pedestrian walkway from the elementary school to the football field. The council gave its support during a meeting held on April 15, passing a resolution in favor of the project.

All-inclusive playground being installed at city park

           Construction of a new all-inclusive playground is underway in the St. James City Park. This is the first phase of replacing aging playground equipment with new equipment geared for users of any ability level and will be a great addition to the city.

Council approves cost-of-living raise for employees

            The St. James City Council approved a 1.5 percent cost-of-living allowance (COLA) increase during a meeting held on April 15. Last year, the council approved changing the fiscal year to begin in October instead of May and Mayor Rick Krawiecki said he felt employees deserved the pay increase now.

 Mayor addresses online rumors

           After the St. James city council voted last week to not renew the contract of City Administrator Dan Knoell, several city employees have left or are leaving city employment, causing rumors to take off on social media over the weekend. Mayor Rick Krawiecki held a Mayor’s Minute Facebook Live broadcast on Monday to clear up some of the confusion and untrue information being circulated.
